Today we will be joined by the Alchemist (a learned visitor from Alchemy island) She will bring samples of strange materials from her land. We will use our scientific knowledge to investigate the properties of these materials and classify them accordingly.

Hidden portals have been discovered around the school we will investigate them and use the portals to visit Alchemy island where we will explore the strange terrains and geographical features of this magical landscape. Landscapes will be navigated: adventures will occur for us to blog about.

How you can help

Please continue to support your child by encouraging them to read widely and frequently.  In addition, help them to learn their spellings (these will be on the class blog every week). Ensuring that your child is fluent with their multiplication tables is also incredibly beneficial for them. There are lots of ways that these facts can be practised; chanting, singing, games, apps, web sites or simply writing them out.

Home Learning

Year 5 are given weekly homework that is set on a Wednesday and handed back in for marking on Monday. This consists of either a topic based activity, maths or English. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn, which are tested on a Monday. Children are expected to read every day and their reading diary should be signed by an adult five times a week. This should be handed in every day.
