Welcome to Nightingale Class!
Welcome to Nightingale class! Our names are Miss Clements, Miss Austin and Mrs Clift and we teach the very talented Year 3 class at Freemans Endowed. Our children also have teaching
from Mrs Pinnock on Thursday, the children get to develop their reading skills around our topic and who Connor helps us develop our PE skills.
In Nightingale we aim to create children who take an increased responsibility both for their learning, environment and behaviour, we do this by encouraging independence and responsibility for their own work and developing honesty within the classroom, however this is done throughout their journey of Freemans Endowed.
Within our Tribal Tales topic we will explore what life was like from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We will compare the houses, food, clothes, jewellery and hunting styles of these time periods and develop our understanding of chronology. To begin this topic, we are very excited to visit Flag Fen on Friday 1st March.
Year 3 Updates
Year 3 are given weekly homework that is set on a Thursday and handed back in for marking on Tuesday. This will be linked to the Year 3 curriculum. The children are also given weekly spellings to learn, which are tested on a Monday. Children are expected to read every day and we ask that an adult signs and makes a comment in their reading diary. This should be handed in every day.
How you can help
Please continue to support your child by encouraging them to read widely and frequently. They should also be discussing their reading with an adult on a regular basis. You could use the questions in their reading diary for ideas. Ensuring that your child is regularly practicing their multiplication tables is also incredibly beneficial for them. There are lots of ways that these facts can be practised; chanting, singing, games, apps, web sites or simply writing them out.
