Welcome to the governors’ page of Freeman’s website.
As a standalone Academy, the governors at Freeman’s are accountable for its performance and compliance as a school, company, charity and employer. Our governing body is made up of people from a variety of backgrounds who represent different stakeholder categories at Freeman’s. These governor categories are staff, parent, foundation (church) and community. Members bring a wide range of professional and life skills to help monitor the performance of different aspects of the Academy and act as a “critical friend” to challenge and hold Freeman’s leaders to account.
We meet twice a term as a full governing body, and individual governors come in to the academy during the school day to feel the atmosphere, to meet teachers, to see how our curriculum is delivered and how all subjects are taught. At our meetings we discuss and monitor pupil outcomes and progress, the curriculum, safeguarding, SEND and Pupil Premium arrangements, finance,
premises, health and safety and personnel.
These meetings and visits help us prioritise developments and expenditure to ensure our children have access to the most appropriate resources to receive the best education possible, to prepare them for their next steps in their school life.
